fun!

This is a little illustration I did for class. I thought it would be cute if the umbrella was used as something to catch the "shower" rather than repel it. I used pastel pencils, and for some reason the colors are not as soft and light on the screen as they are in my original. And the piece still needs a bit of tweaking, but I thought I'd put it up anyways. Enjoy!

Transitions...

"Childhood is a strange country. It's a place you come from or go to- at least in your mind. For me it has an endless, spellbound something in it that feels remote. It's like a little sealed-vault country of cake breath and grass stains where what you do instead of work is spin until you're dizzy. " -Lyall Bush
This quote, as well as this piece, are part of the inspiration for my thesis. I'm brewing with ideas and am excited about the pieces to come!

TaTa Gala

I created this piece for the TaTa Gala- a show to raise money for breast cancer research. It was really great to see so many people create art for a good cause.

Sweet Dreams

This was part of a quick series of puppy illustrations I did. (See below) I played with watercolor, pen, and a bit of digital texture for these. This one will be part of Gallery 28. =)

Cupcakes-A-gO-gO

Hello to anyone out there who can appreciate a delicious cupcake! That's right, the best cupcakes in town can be found right here in Sarasota at a place called Cupcakes-A-gO-gO. I also recently started selling greeting cards there, like how I squeezed that in there? =) Check it out if you have a chance, I should have some more art there this summer. Thanks!

Children's Book

Here is a preview of the children's book I'm illustrating for class. I should have three finished spreads, and front and back covers in less than two weeks. Those will be posted when the time comes. I already made the 32 page dummy book, but it's not necessary to post that.
Anyway, I based it off of a poem called "My Shadow," by by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was fun to interpret in my own way. Hope you enjoy.

Painting Update

Here are a few recent paintings from this semester. We've got Alison in her wig and costume, a self portrait of me wanting coffee, and one of a girl and some puppies on a somewhat rainy day. Enjoy!

Spring Break!

Now that I've had time, haha yeah right, I am in the process of setting up "my other blog." On this blog you'll find any other trinkets I make, including jewelry. I should have a few things up soon.
Besides this, I've been doing some sketching and some homework. As well as trying to get some relaxation time in. =)
There will be new posts soon!!

artsy!

I put together a self-promotional type piece. I haven't quite mastered the craft of soldering, but it was fun! I plan on making more, but probably smaller/cleaner looking. Also, I've been experimenting making jewelry using this soldering technique =) Hopefully I'll have pieces to put up fairly soon!

New Stuff!!

This is a character development piece we got in illustration class. I wrote a summary of a little story called "Joey the polar Bear Puppy." I based it off of my Great Pyrenees dog back home, so cute! It was a lot of fun and I would like to do more work similar to this. I also put a portrait of Jason in we turned in recently for painting class. We had to do a portrait of someone close to us =).

Last Semester

Here are some pieces I wanted to post from last semester. I really like the colors (and my new teapot!) I picked for the teapot, this one was done in painter in my computer illustration class. The book cover for "A Little Princess" was a lot of fun. I started off with a sketch then used photoshop for scanned in textures. I used the burn tool a lot as well, I think it helped a lot with the mood. The Christmas card thing is a small snippit of this promotional piece I did, but I thought i would include it anyway. The little boy eating a pepper is a series piece inspired by my brother that I put together for illustration class. Lastly, I included my last figure painting of the semester. I worked fairly small that time, but I like how it turned out for the most part.
